Challenge Happiness

It took me a while to warm into my scrappiness this last month,
there were quite a few pages that will not see the light of day but
will stay forever in my albums as memories scrapped and not
particularly attractively either.

On the upside all the warm-up scrapping worked a treat and I played with more challenges than I have in a long, long time. 'Twas fun!
AND.... being the last day of the month I am going to post all that are left
in one fell swoop, so get ready!

The KIU challenge was to "create a layout using a different style than
you normally create". I went with a layered style with no mist, so NOT me!
I used up lots of leftover bits and pieces from recent kits I have been playing with.

Next up is One Little Word, which for July was 'Fierce'.
Back to my comfort zone, mists, washi, and Dymo :-)

And then there was Scrapmatts.
The challenge here was to use 2 different paints on your chippies.
I painted them all black and after masking with gyprock tape
(same as Magic Mesh), I stippled parts with yellow paint.
With, of course, more mist and washi. Ha.

I teamed it with the awesome Glitz range 'Color Me Happy'

And finally a page for Punky Scraps using this inspiration board

With lots of yellow and green....

So that's it.
I feel purged and yet full of creativity.
A perfect way to start a new month.

Thanks for stopping in.

Issues with Chipboard

At Gauche Alchemy recently we had a swap with UmWow Studio
and had the chance to play with some excellent and gorgeous chipboard products.
Here is the page I did, you can find more details on it here.

The fabulous layered fabric chevrons are handmade by Charmane Koch at
Charm's Creations, she also makes hearts, banners, and doiley doodads called
page runners, I am quite smitten with them lately!
I'm linking this page up at Paper Issues where the current issue is UmWow.

Nice to *see you today :-)

Extraordinary?

That's the word for July at 123 Challenge blog.
It has to be teamed with denim and navy (colour).
Here is what I came up with

The background came out of a play session with some
Art Anthology paint and a TCW Dina Wakley stencil.
I added journalling on a washi-tabbed tag under the photo.
The blue mist is not that bright irl but
I have fixed the page so the whites are bright, not grey.

Thank you to Charmane Koch for the push to do the challenges this month.

Thanks for dropping by

Chic layout

A little while back Chic Tags had a challenge on their blog to use triangles on your page.
I had fun with the challenge but alas didn't get it up in time to participate
so here it is now.

Along with the Chic Tags there is some Bazzill cardstock,
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, and a few Kaisercraft decorative brads.

July at SUYS

I have been lucky to have both time and mojo recently
and have played with several challenges this month.
I will be posting a few more as time permits, but for now
it's a wintery challenge for us lot Downunder this month at

I used up a bunch of black art pad off-cuts for the layered strips and added
grungey colour with metallic Tim Holtz distress stains. A little bit of Kindyglitz put
some frosty sparkle on my American Crafts thickers title and the button
on Charms Creations 'mini runner'.
All up a pretty quick and simple page.
Thanks so much for dropping by today

Gauche Helmar

Recently Gauche Alchemy and Helmar did a bit of a swap
and we Alchemists got to play with some awesome sticky stuff!

I had a lot of fun getting gluey with this project

It all started with a kraft dress-form and a ball of paper twine from Lincraft.
I covered the dress-form with the twine using a generous amount of Helmar PVA glue and once dry, set about decorating it.
You'll find lots of doodads from the GA Color Kits, punchinella, burlap, ouchless cardboard, lace, and found objects all solidly stuck with the amazing Helmar 450, it may be a little bit stringy but well worth it for the speed and strength of the bond.
I have coloured her up with loads of Dylusions and added some glittery highlights with Tattered Angels Glams and Glazes then used a bit of Rub & Buff on the neck and waist bands.

The quote says "An ounce of mother is worth a ton of clergy"

Yes, I needed some validation.

Thanks heaps for dropping by

Remembering Crazy

Crazy is the word up at One Little Word, until the new one in a few days,
and I was inspired to scrap a page about an old Uni friend who I caught up with last year.
I don't have a photo of us back in the day, we were too busy being ratbags whenever we were together, so I just used the current one and kept journalling details fairly minimal
(don't want the teen kids to have a bad example, eh!). One day I might elaborate
with some hidden journalling on a page ;-)

Sorry it's a little fuzzy, the days here lately have been so gloomy.
I used lots of leftover little pieces from my Gauche Alchemy Color Kits
on top of a grungey background that's been sitting around for ages.

Thanks for dropping by

Um Wow!

Um Wow chippies were completely new to me.
I got my hands on some to play with recently in a swap with Gauche Alchemy
and they are so awesome! I had a few bits left over so
I decided to play along with the sketch on the blog for July.
I used the UmWow star strip border

The fabulous chevron is Glitz Designs Cashmere Dame tape, one of my faves!
Thanks for dropping by today, if you get a chance pop over and check out UmWow
and have a go at the sketch, it's a beauty!

Playing with Charms Creations

Recently I scored my first batch of Charms Creations chevrons at a scrap retreat
and loved them so much that I bought some more. Here is the first lot
on a page I had been planning for ages and just didn't know how to start.
They kicked it off easily because they were the perfect colour.

I played around the eges of full page mats with an EK Success border punch
and journalled on correction tape. Some really old Basic Grey and Heidi Swapp
alphas with my fave Dymo, a touch of washi tape, and it's all done.
This was one of my warm-up pages for that weekend, and though I prefer the later ones more,
I love this one because it is so evocative of the night we'd had.

Thanks so much for dropping by
